Expert craftsmanship to preserve and enhance your fine art & collectibles

We perform conservation and restoration on many types of art, antiques and collectibles.

Paintings in various mediums on various surfaces. Among the treatments we can do is surface cleaning, removal of old varnishes, lining and re-lining with new canvas, patching tears and punctures, repair of scrapes and scratches, impregnating the canvas from the back to stabilize flaking paint, retouching lost or damaged areas, applying modern non-darkening varnishes, and reversing of old restorations.

Works on paper
Drawings…in various mediums: pencil, pastels, ink, charcoal and others

Prints…in various mediums: etching, engraving, wood cut, serigraph, lithograph and others.

(For more information on prints, click here)

Documents…We provide a treatment for old documents and/or works of art on paper which reverses the acidic condition of the paper to slightly alkaline thereby extending the life of the paper up to four times. We also can encapsulate delicate documents and old newspapers in clear Mylar. We make reversible repairs to paper punctures and tears

Watercolors…Transparent, opaque and gauche

Photographs…some damaged photos can be restored directly. Other restoration can be accomplished digitally. We are one of the few if not the only studio to offer a process for old B&W photographs which decreases or eliminates the “silvering” or black area reversals.

Three-dimensional objects…repairs can be made to sculpture and figurines made of many kinds of materials. Ceramic vessels can be repaired. Repairs can include cleaning, bonding of broken parts and fabrication of missing parts/areas.

Architectural Objects…
Structural…large built objects and architectural details
Murals…restoration

Picture and mirror frames…treatment will depend on the extent of damage. Lost parts can be replaced through making casts from molds of similar existing parts. The finish, the patina, will be duplicated on areas that had been damaged. Gilding of the entire frame may be the treatment of choice.

DAMAGE APPRAISALS
We provide appraisals of damage to substantiate insurance claims. Appraisals are preformed by professionals with credentials to support their findings.

ART APPRAISAL
We can refer you to appraisers that we feel are competent should you need to find the value of your art and/or collection.

THE COST OF YOUR RESTORATION
Work that is brought to the studio by appointment can have a firm quotation on the spot. At that time, you can choose to leave it for work or not. Work that is examined through photographs and information obtained from the owner without the physical examination will get an estimate. This estimate is not a firm quote until the work is actually physically inspected and determined to be accurate. The charge for services may change to either a higher or lower figure after the physical inspection. Upon agreement for services, the client will be expected to provide a deposit of half to start the restoration process with the balance due on completion of the work.

Each project will be photographed before and after work and during the process of restoration if the project lends itself to that. These photos can be made available to the client if desired.
